Yogamy Ferreras was born in the second larggest island of the Caribbean called "Quisqueya,"
better known as Santo Domingo, The Dominican Republic.
At her early years she showed her passion for drawing. While other kids were
playing with their toys, she was in her imaginative world with her characters creating
illustrated stories of love and drama, and model figurines for clothes invented by her.
That passion and the advise of older people made her think that, some day, she could study
Fashion design.
With that thought she entered Altos de Chavon/ school of design;
an affiliation, in the Dominican Republic, of Parsons school of design,
a division of New School University, in New York City. Altos de Chavon offered
four different career options, such as, Fine Arts, Graphic design, Fashion design,
and environmental design. At that point of her life, Yogamy was seventeen,
she realized that what she really wanted to do was to study Fine Arts.
Yogamy completed her studies at Altos de Chavon/ school of design, where she
also won the Ruth Vanderpool scholarship to study Illustration at Parsons
school of design.
Her work is focused on composition and shape, as well as, a sophisticated sense of color.
Yogamy s favorite subject is the rendering of people, specially multicultural.
Her work has been exhibited in several galleries in the Dominican Republic and New York City.
She graduated from Parsons school of design and works as a freelance illustrator.
