Getting Started

In addition to the 45, 45, 90 degree triangle, t-square, ruler and flat drawing surface mentioned in the Tools section, you will need:

1. Drawing paper - a good size to start with is 12 inches wide by 8 or 9 inches high. Letter size paper (8 1/2 by 11) will also do.

2. A 2B, HB, 2H or 4H drawing pencil or regular No. 2 . Avoid using soft pencils like a 3B, 4B, 5B. They will cause your drawing to smudge.

3. An eraser.

4. Masking tape, if you are using a t-square.
