Sweet Mountain Girl

I see her standing over there with a daisy in her hair
Puma natured, a candied stare, she’s dancing without a care
Barefoot in the knee-high grass, striding with steps so light
Dew streaked legs prance with elves, the summer sun so bright
Down shoulders bare flow auburn hair, petal crowned mane sublime
Unfettered queen, smile like a dream, found free of the chains of time
White hemmed dress, cotton tress, sweeping softly against the ground
A seraph gown, as soft as down, her moves make not a sound
Her dancing done she lays to rest, not a worry in the world
Sleeping soundly on a moss strewn bed, my sweet little mountain girl

Tear for a Kiss

Glittering like the sun
Little diamonds
Topaz in candlelight
Inked onyx in eyelashes
Free flowing down rouge valleys
To lips drawn and taut
Welcoming a kiss to dry the rain
Wanting release
Storm clouds swell
Tiny gems swept away in a torrent of sorrow
Lost in a river, staining cheeks ashen
Flowing to the brink and falling
Taking a plummet to the depths, blue and black
The tides licked off of moonstone
No kiss to embrace the tear

The Grasp of a Tree

It pushes out of the earth
Grey and withered
Thin, spindly fingers creak in the breeze
It reaches upwards, to the sky
Reaching to take the sun’s hand, to hold it close
It strains, groaning as it stretches
Looking for anything to hold on to
It’s jagged claws struggling for light
Struggling for life
For a kind hand to pull it out of the mire
But instead it sits alone
It’s flesh dry and flaking away
Laying limp, slowly loosing its will
Slumping over, giving up
Life slipping from its grasp

Things People Say

People say a lot of things…
They say if it don’t kill you
It makes you stronger
I say it wears you down
I say each strike cripples
Till you’re bleeding on the ground
They say that love can conquer all
I say that is just a lie
That love will bring you happiness
When it just makes you cry
They say the truth will set you free
But instead it makes a cage
Grasps your heart, turns the key
And bottles up your rage
They say that if you don’t succeed
That you should try once more
It seems to be a pain fraught path
To that fatal fall to the floor
People say a lot of things…

Tooth and Claw

Survival of the fittest, the forest law
The meek shall inherit their own downfall
Feared yet fearing, in shadows they crawl
The strong live on, the weak are eaten raw
The howls of wolves rise and fall
As the full moon gleams a ghostly pall
The carrion rots, the ravens caw
Preyed upon, their backs against the wall
A foul wind blows as the reaper calls
Predator and prey, one and all
All souls of this jungle, large or small
Must fight for their lives with tooth and claw

Vampiric Notion

Hold me in your arms
Taloned fingers clasping
Brace my wounded body
Bare my soul to the pendulum
And strip it clean
Fecund allure
I can’t resist it
Cold baptismal musk
Scent worn by a woman
Luring out Hamlin’s rats
I’m at your mercy
Break my life brook
Suck with lips stained red
Spit at my feet
Turn your back
And leave me to bleed

Venus Kanji

Carved of marble
Flawless form
Those wicked curves
Flesh toned stone
Kanji inscribed
Runic rhythm
A cat like prowl
Not quite timid
Entwining ivy
An imposing stance
Up well muscled thighs
Pass a fleeting glance
Lotus bearer
Small of the back
Sexual proportions
She does not lack
Living Venus
Calves tightened taut
Her beguiling charms
Can not be fought

Waiting For Our Wings

Earthbound
Side by side
Confiding, coinciding
Is there more?
Your hand in mine
Protecting each other
Your smile enchants
Is it possible?
Looks towards the sky
I want more than this
More that kind words and glances
Can we fly together?
On peregrine wings
Skywards, eternal
An emotional ascent
To happiness
Can we?

When the Towers Fell

Far off zealots plotting doom
To mask the light of day in gloom
Under the cause of holy war
Not stopping till our flag lies torn
And then the towers fell

Fires squelched, tears are shed
Friends are lost, family dead
Dreams of many are swept away
Tragedy brought to all that day
When the towers fell

Our kin then rose to take their place
Volunteering to amazing grace
Repairing what was thought lost forever
Piece by piece, our pride put back together
When the towers fell

All the nation, heads held high
Hands together, spirits fly
All the wrongs are now made right
The soul of America rose that night
When the towers fell

Yem’s Perspective

Crack the window, breathe in the air
The scent of a furious morn
It’s a beautiful day outside today
Just disregard the storm
Deluging down, it pollutes the ground
Rotten, tattered and torn
The gardens drown in winter rain
A grave of mud forlorn
A charnel rose as black as night
Pushes upward from the loam
Petals wilted, stems split wide
Tears drip off the thorns
Blooming backward, bleeding bare
In the wake it’s weathered worn
Crying, dying, washed away
Its fate I do not mourn
Heart tucked away in shades of grey
Alone new life is born
Imprisoned within my own bleak soul
Sheltered from the scorn
