Raining
A steady tapping against the roof
Playing a storm sung sonnet
Apprehensively echoing in the air
Rivulets dance upon it
Pounding pulse, jagged light
Tango twisting overhead
Hail bred heartstrings twirling tight
Wicked tempest in a bed
Windswept and awaiting
A dance in a turbulent sea
Two embracing and tasting
In a storm of ecstasy
Seeping sweetly, silver wine
Thunder bellows its release
Wayward tracing a lashing path
Raining passion and then peace
Raven Flight
Midnight perched on a branch
A black so blue
Dark eyes darting
Seeking a future
A time so true
Compromising, cawing softly
Wings flutter a silky shade
Like ink swirling in water
Winds of the past blow
Ruffling her feathered cloak
Marring her perfection
Gale forced and frenzied
Foundations shaking, her perch breaking
Wings spread, time to run
But she lingers
Just long enough to fall in love
She lingers
And then she flies away
Reflecting Pool
I have a secret, a hidden treasure
Tucked away deep in the forests of my soul
A tranquil pool, the surface like the night sky
But I don’t see myself in it
I see you
I see how beautiful you are
In coalescing colors and textures you speak to me
The pool ripples with your rhymes
Letting me see into your soul
And in turn allowing me to see into mine
Your image wavers in the wind, In the rain
As I reach for you and grasp nothing but water
But despite everything I can still see
And I am happy
Happy that I always know you are still there
My hidden treasure
My reflecting pool
Release
You are slipping away
Each step taking you further
Farther out of my reach
To a distant horizon
An ocean between us
Unable to hold you
The sun dipping below
Twilight heralds silence
As you drift onwards
Lost sight of in dimming light
It hurts to watch you fade
But as long as you are happy
I can let you go
Requiem of Red and Black
All I see is red
It is everywhere, spilling from wounded flesh and souls
Blood curdling screams, blazing weapons, it even sounds red
Red rages in the minds of my friends, in my enemy’s words
Burning me like a flame, corrupting me like a disease
Purge me of the song of red, my ears bleed from its call
I watch as a banner of dark crimson ripples in the wind
I wish for the red to fade into black
The black of the back of my eyelids, a dream of shadows
Growing weary of bearing this blade, stained sanguine
It drips of the blood of many wars, my friends, my enemies, and mine
So many wounds, so many vermilion memories
Wash them away in a slate grey sea
The red blinds me to the truth; nothing is right or wrong anymore
There is just this war, a war that never ends.
Peace exists in black and it exists in sleep
Let me see black
Let me sleep
Scarlette
Scarlette, a sultry wind
Tempestuous, twisting towards the sky
Lithe, curving form
Chiseled from the flames of the heart
Free form and flowing
Rising from ashes
Pheonixed her soul
Emotion burning bright
Cinders gleam like faceted eyes
Reflecting the burning in a thousand mirrors
All consuming, saturating
The fiery clashing of red and white
A hypnotic hue
Lost in Scarlette
She’s Beautiful
The warm embrace when the snow falls
The soothing voice calming me
The scent of cinnamon and rain
The smile that melts me
The look that stops time
The sting of a rose thorn
The stars during dusk
The light of a candle
The teasing taste of heaven
The clarity or revelation
The confusion of emotion
The wet sand where the waves break
The tears on my shoulder
The tears in my eyes
She’s everything to me
That’s why she’s beautiful
Silent Kingdom
Wandering the halls with mouths sewn closed
In the company of many yet all alone
Under reigns of a king unopposed
They sing their spite in whispered tones
…In the silent kingdom
Phantoms roam, chained by fate
Not allowed to voice their hate
Expressionless, in a frozen state
Watching, waiting as their king berates
…In the silent kingdom
Blood is spilled, drips to the floor
Treachery by the one they abhor
Watching from the shadows, wanting war
These walls beg to be silent no more
…In the silent kingdom
Supernova
I see the path
Hearing voices in the distance
Looking left, then looking right
I see a crossroads
A choice to be made
One or the other
They are similar
Lined with the same stones
But still I must choose
I see the sky
It is night, the stars are out
Brilliant eyes looking down
Forming a smile
I smile back to the sky
They have my answers
I look up and I see a path
All ways woven as one
I choose them all
