I love rain...the sound of it, the smell of it...growing up on a farm meant watching and sometimes praying for rain, as everything depended on water to give it life. Then, too, a rainy day meant a respite from some outdoor chores and provided time for reading, playing piano and/or other pleasant activities. But sometimes, it can be threatening and almost fearful...like the bad times we face. Nancy Wilson has a recording of a song called "Rain Sometimes" that says it all.
This is one of several new works which are experimental in that I am producing larger canvases, and further exploring the process of layering and painting out. In progress are works in which I am adding other media in the continual search for expression.
