Work, exhibits, family, friends & travel - elements of my life
At work on installation
With help from a friend...
and, it's up. Approximately 12 feet by 7 feet, this assemblage consists of a central figurative element borrowed from Paul Klee's "Refuge" and inspired by a purely geometric sketch I had done years earlier when first exploring abstract work.
I call it "Keep Smilin". I gave the figure longer arms that struggle to "keep its head above water" and "hold it all together" even though everything is flying off in different directions. (Now, that's multi-tasking!) This was my attempt to portray 21st century "us" with our ever-increasing busy-ness. Once having been bitten by the theatre bug, it never completely leaves you, and it was in the spirit of "comic relief" that I added this work to my exhibit.
Grandchildren (l to r, f to b): Natalie, Rebecca, Nicole, Jared & Grayson Scott...
