Turtle Amulet

This turtle is a beaded interpretation of a lapis lazi turtle from the China exhibit at the Denver Museum of Natural History. A friend wanted the turtle really badly and of course it is part of a collection; not for sale. I was pretty sure I could make it in beads. My friend was excited and I went right home and tried to work it out. She liked the pattern and I began making the turtle. A few weeks later she bought it and wears it every opportunity.

This turtle is made from delica beads, some are gold plated in two main colors of blue which is close to the lapis color. The carapace and bottom of the turtle are different and the little amulet is hung on a Spiral Rope with two different colors. The rope takes a long time to make but is a wonderful design and comfortable to wear.
