Feminine Expressions
Feminine Expressions has been termed my "Deebish" work. I was influenced by my admiration for bead artist Margie Deeb. But I wanted something different, something that was more me. Designs floated in the back of my mind for months before one day taking out a grid paper, I sat down and sketched out the basic design in half an hour. Then, for the next three days I worked on the colors I wanted and how they would be juxtaposed, compliment and work together. Once that was done, came the work of translating that design into actual colors available in Delica beads, physically putting the threads on the loom, finding the courage for my first supplemental warps, actually doing the supplemental warps (usually two days of work for each set), and finding just the right person to make the large lampwork glass bead for the "center." It took six weeks of working at the loom to finished the necklace. The clasp is Sterling Silver and the large bead one of a kind. I don't plan on ever repeating this piece, making it a one and only.
