FROM MY SKETCHBOOK
Around Cape Horn
From Rio to Valpariso
March 2000

A view of downtown Rio De Janeiro from the port.
Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world. Painted on location: 3 degrees Celsius with Force 5 winds.
Cape Horn, Chile. The small white buildings on the green hill are stations of the Chilean Navy and are inhabited by only three people.
Jagged and surreal shapes characterize the mountains that loom up from the Beagle channel near Ushuaia.
Glaciers and cascading rivers tumble down from the Chilean mountains that guard the Beagle channel.
The port city of Puerto Montt, Chile, known as the "end of the line" is the southern terminus of the national railroad and the Pan-American highway.
