My love affair with watercolor began in the sixth grade when I was chosen to take painting lessons at the University of Nebraska on Saturday mornings. I knew then that I wanted to be an artist. But watercolor did not come easily---it is a tough task-master and it can reveal the humanness, the frailties and faults of an artist. Mistakes are difficult to change and I have learned that I must be somewhat transparent myself---revealing both my flaws and my successes. My life-long artistic goal has been to create fresh and luminous watercolors. Although I have been nurtured by the American West, extensive traveling has created a more global nature to my work. My idea of a perfect day is one spent painting on location in a picturesque little village or on a mountain hillside.
