Moondance
After I'd been painting for several months, it became a kind of routine that I would finish a painting and then take it to my office for display so that all my co-workers could critique my work. I had painted a couple of different paintings that my friend, Ace Clemons liked. She and her partner Juliet were going to be celebrating their anniversary at the end of the year (1998), and Ace wanted something special to give Juliet, but she was having trouble deciding which of my paintings she liked. Ace finally asked if I could paint something specifically for her with certain elements that were meaningful to her and Juliet. This turned out to be my second commissioned work. Ace requested a tree and a moon with twelve stars in the sky. She also specified two human figures to represent she and Juliet, and two feline figures to represent their two cats. Once it was finished, Ace loved it. She was very proud to be able to give Juliet such a unique and special gift and I am very proud to have my art hanging in their home in Chico, California.
