Don Juan
I painted this after I had been reaquainted with an old boyfriend after about seven years. I wasn't really trying to paint a portrait. I was just thinking about the relationship and all the things that have changed since we were together. It is one of the paintings that I used my hands to rub the paint into the canvas and as the image emerged, I found myself thinking about the kind of person my old boyfriend was. A Latin Lover type with big, romantic eyes and exuding charm and romance. That's what this painting looks like to me, so I named it Don Juan.
