SHORT BIO Ted Danielson currently works out of his studio in Carlsbad, CA and likes useing mixed media often in his artwork. Ted enjoys telling a story or trying to emit an emotional feeling or mood with the illustrations he does. Editorial, satire, humor, fantasy and surreal are some of the topics he enjoys depicting. He uses various media to give a different look and textural feel to a piece depending on what the image is meant to communicate to the viewer. Mixed media is often used by Ted to do this, using ink, pastel, acrylic, oil, color pencil and watercolor all within the same piece to build up the effect and strong colors he is looking for. Others needing a gentler approach he may choose only to use one of these mediums. Ted Danielson received training in Commercial Arts from Madison Area Technical College and Palamar College San Marcos, CA. He has studied Fine Arts, Video Production & Photography at Luther College, Architectural Drafting and Design at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute, and Journalism/Television Production/Mass Communications at the School of Graduate Studies, Drake University. While attending college, he was awarded three internships from Iowa Public Television; KWLC Radio & Luther College Educational Media Department; and Luther College Anthropology/Archaeology Departments. Danielson received his bachelor's degree in anthropology and has previously worked as a Television Cameraman and Production Assistant assisting in the production of several weekly aired programs for Iowa PBS, as a Historical Archaeolgy Researcher for Luther College Archaeology Department, a Park Ranger for Yosemeti National Park, and a Cultural Resource Archaeologist for the Stanislaus National Forest Service. He has co-authored several research publications for both the California and Iowa State Office's Of Historic Preservation and the Luther College Preuss Library archives.
