HOW THE HUMBLE SPOON GOT AN ARTIST TO ITALY.

Spoons may be just ordinary everyday objects to most of us, but for Tibor Murany they took him all the way to the 2003 Biennale of Florence.
This well-known local artist painted a series of “surreal still life landscapes” based on the spoon, to enter into the prestigious Italian art exhibition and competition.
There is nothing subtle about Tibor’s use of colour and form. His works have an energy that makes everyday objects burst with life.
This unique style has developed over the years of painting that followed formal training, both in his native Slovakia and at the East Sydney Technical College (now the National Art School).
Study at the Medici Academy in Florence and the Kunst Academy in Düsseldorf in 1982 filled a need in him to know what the European art scene was all about.
Passionate about his art, he extends these feelings to his love of the Blue Mountains area and the need to promote it and the artists living there.
On Friday, May 21 at 7.30 pm Tibor will be speaking of his experiences at the opening of the Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre Member’s Exhibition at the Glenbrook Community Hall, Great Western Highway, and Glenbrook.
Here the cream of many arts and craft forms practiced by the members of the BMCAC will be showcased.
