A COLOURFUL LIFE

Mount Riverview artist Tibor Murany’s enthusiasm for art is contagious – that’s according to his numerous admiring students.
So it is not surprising to learn that art has always been an influential part of his very colourful life.
Encouraged to pursue his artistic talent by his mother, but apprenticed to a plumber by his father, it was not surprising that after Tibor’s escape from Slovakia ( former Czechoslaovakia), at the tender age of 20, he invariably drew or painted to augment the odd jobs he found to support him self.
He soon enlisted in the navy in Hamburg and traveled the world, always fitting in periods of learning etching and drawing.
In recent years Tibor has discovered his forte in the use of colours. Tibor describes this revelation almost as a mystical experience: the day he was sitting in his garden and suddenly saw the colours he has been looking for most of his life – the shapes, lines and forms were clear and visible.
Tibor describes his realization of how everything he has learned until then was brought together, so that he was not following any one style, direction or technique, but creating his own, using his inner sense of colour.
His paintings become fluid, fresh, dynamic and sumptuous. Even the floor tiles come to life, while an old cooker converted into a barbeque took on a strong industrial feel in striking colours.
Tibor’s new exhibition reflects his personal style and passion for his art.
